“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” -Ephesians 3:20
I’m going to focus on this verse this year. Last year, I didn’t dream big enough. I didn’t acknowledge or pursue what God is capable of. I’m not saying I didn’t go after some great goals. I’m not saying I didn’t accomplish some cool things. But if the verse above is true… If my God has all the resources in heaven and earth, and He makes it available to us (His power is at work IN us!)… Wow! Do you understand the magnitude of that?
The potential to do GREAT things for God is within each of us. But without the following two things, that’s all it is…simply potential.
Those two things are: faith and action.
FAITH. Some of us don’t reach far enough because we honestly don’t believe it’s possible. We don’t feel qualified. We don’t believe God will come through. We don’t expect great things to happen when we walk in obedience.
ACTION. So many of us pray for God to work through us. Some even pray constantly. But you know what? Sometimes prayer isn’t enough. (Did the pastor just say that?) Sure did. Throughout the scriptures and throughout history, God works most through those individuals who take initiative. I think sometimes we’re asking God, “Why aren’t you moving?” And we don’t realize God is there saying, “It’s your move.” Blessings, miracles, and the great works of God are almost always preceded by obedience.
This year, I pray that you take the potential that God puts inside of you, and through faith and action, allow Him to turn it into “immeasurably more than all you ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within you.” Amen.
